UA and Fayetteville Freethinkers to Host Live-Video Stream of Atheist Authors

Fayetteville—University and local secular organizations will be hosting an event for the upcoming presentations by best-selling, respected, yet controversial atheist authors.

"We are excited to hear lectures from two distinguished and outspoken intellectuals currently fighting against religious superstition and the erosion of reason, and we encourage campus religious groups to participate in the event," said Jackson Ayres, a member of Occam's Razors and graduate student in English at the University of Arkansas.

The Atheist Alliance International will be hosting its 2007 connection from Sept. 28-30 in Washington, D.C. For those who cannot attend the event, the secular groups Occam's Razors and Fayetteville Freethinkers will be hosting a live-stream video presentation for two of the most anticipated speakers, Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris. The event will take place on Friday, 28 September, at the University of Arkansas Union, Room 312NW, at 6:00 PM. Dawkins, a professor of biology at the University of Oxford, is the author of several books, including The God Delusion, currently in its 51st week on the New York Times bestseller list. Harris is also the author of two best-selling and controversial atheist books, The End of Faith and Letter to a Christian Nation. The two talks will challenge the fallacies of religious superstition; address the dangers inherent in religious faith, both extreme and moderate; outline how ethics and morality are independent of religion; and will endorse rationalism and science as not only the superior, but also vital, modes of thought for the human race. Both presentations promise to be enlightening, engaging, and provocative. All are invited and encouraged to attend, including campus religious organizations, in order to screen the lectures and participate in discussion.

Please join us, Friday 28 September, in the Arkansas Union, Room 507/508, at 6:00 PM for this important and exciting event. For more information, please contact Kevin Metcalf at president@razorbackfreethought.org, and visit our websites,
