"...while it's true that there are those who oppose the project because they do believe that it will disturb the sensitivities of some 9/11 victims... I do want to remind everyone that in this country we do not define our constitutional rights by how they disturb people's sensitivities--you only had to spend a few minutes at Ground Zero yesterday and to take in this international cabal of anti-Muslim zealots that had gathered together to spout the most vile racist bigotry to know that this is about something more. Anti-Muslim sentiment in this country is at unprecedented levels.

We all know this. But what's truly disturbing is how mainstream it's becoming with politicians on both sides--and I would have to include the former mayor [Giuliani] in this, in this category--openly and explicitly associating American Muslims with al-Qaeda. I mean, what I'd like to know from, not just the former mayor but from, the people who, who keep talking about this Islamic community center, is that what is it that this multifaith, multistoried community center being led by an American imam that two presidents, Republican and Democrat, have used as a--as an ambassador to the Muslim world, cultural ambassador to the Muslim world, what does that have to do with al-Qaeda?

The answer is kind of simple, actually: Islam. But let's call a spade a spade for a moment. If you are painting 1.5 billion people with the same brush of violence and, and, and extremism, you're a bigot. And I think what's, what's disturbing is the way that that's become part of the, the, the natural discourse now."

Gingrich is insane:
"What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?" Gingrich asked. "That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior."

"This is a person who is fundamentally out of touch with how the world works, who happened to have played a wonderful con, as a result of which he is now president," Gingrich added.

"I think he worked very hard at being a person who is normal, reasonable, moderate, bipartisan, transparent, accommodating -- none of which was true," Gingrich continues. "In the Alinksy tradition, he was being the person he needed to be in order to achieve the position he needed to achieve. ... He was authentically dishonest." --Huff Po

Either you think Americans who are of the same religion as this fellow should be allowed to practice their religion freely, or you don't.

William Rivers Pitt:

***
"Nine years, four national elections, two wars and two presidents since that day, and where are we now as a nation?

Broke, deranged and dangerous pretty much sums it up. We have Christian-Taliban pastors in Florida
with filthy souls threatening to burn the Qu'ran, as if such an act had any meaning beyond a desire to
make money, and a national news media apparatus all too happy to give them all the ink and air time
he could ever wish for.

We have seething crowds threatening arson and murder because a Muslim community center might
get built next to a (Titty bar) on the site of a defunct coat store. We have national caricatures like Sarah Palin
charging people more than $200 for the chance to meet with her on that day, as if she has any significance at all.

We've got stabbings and beatings and firebombings, and this is nine years later.

We are a nation of euphemisms now. It's not spying on the American people, it is "national security."
It's not holding someone in a hellhole without charges or trial, it is "indefinite detention."
It's not kidnapping, it is "extraordinary rendition."
It's not murder or assassination, it is "targeted killing."
It's not torture, it is "enhanced interrogation."
It's not wildly and patently illegal and immoral on its face, it is "war."

It's going to be quite entertaining watching Newt and Palin try to out "conservative" each other for the next GOP presidential nomination.

How about we just come out and say it?

Former Florida GOP Chair Jim Greer:
One year ago, when President Barack Obama gave his first back-to-school speech to the nation's schoolchildren, then-chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Jim Greer, accused him of using "taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate America's children to his socialist agenda."

Now, Greer is facing fraud and money laundering charges and has been thrown under the bus by the state GOP, which has accused him of living the high life on party money. And so he's had a change of heart.

"In the year since I issued a prepared statement regarding President Obama speaking to the nation's schoolchildren, I have learned a great deal about the party I so deeply loved and served,'' Greer said in a written statement. "Unfortunately, I found that many within the GOP have racist views and I apologize to the President for my opposition to his speech last year and my efforts to placate the extremists who dominate our party today. My children and I look forward to the presiden't speech."

Message to Muslims: I’m Sorry

By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF

Excerpt:

"In my travels, I’ve seen some of the worst of Islam: theocratic mullahs oppressing people in Iran; girls kept out of school in Afghanistan in the name of religion; girls subjected to genital mutilation in Africa in the name of Islam; warlords in Yemen and Sudan who wield AK-47s and claim to be doing God’s bidding.

But I’ve also seen the exact opposite: Muslim aid workers in Afghanistan who risk their lives to educate girls; a Pakistani imam who shelters rape victims; Muslim leaders who campaign against female genital mutilation and note that it is not really an Islamic practice; Pakistani Muslims who stand up for oppressed Christians and Hindus; and above all, the innumerable Muslim aid workers in Congo, Darfur, Bangladesh and so many other parts of the world who are inspired by the Koran to risk their lives to help others. Those Muslims have helped keep me alive, and they set a standard of compassion, peacefulness and altruism that we should all emulate.

I’m sickened when I hear such gentle souls lumped in with Qaeda terrorists, and when I hear the faith they hold sacred excoriated and mocked. To them and to others smeared, I apologize."

Obama, today, talking to a Wall Street hedge fund manager and using the Warren Buffett example:

"...the notion that somehow me saying maybe you should be taxed more like your secretary when you're pulling home a billion dollars or a hundred million dollars a year, I don't think is me being extremist or being anti-business." LINK

Jerome Corsi Wants Obama To 'Renounce Lucifer'
Image

...did you know that Lucifer is the Saul Alinsky of heaven? That's right! ... You see, Alinsky included a facetious dedication in his book "Rules for Radicals" to Lucifer, the "first radical." And that got [Jerome] Corsi thinking, "Hmmm, you know, I don't recall President Barack Obama ever distancing himself from Lucifer!" And so: GOTCHA!

"I'd like to hear Barack Obama come out and renounce Lucifer," said Corsi, "I don't recall hearing him do it."

============
DOUG writes:
Corsi is the author of The Obama Nation , a wingnut hit piece on Obama. Corsi is also famous for espousing belief in conspiracy theories and crackpot ideas such as: The U.S. and the U.N. want to create a North American Government; the "Abiogenic theory of the origin of oil (arguing that oil is produced from chemical reactions in the Earth, in contrast to the scientific community's consensus that oil is produced from the bodies of animals and/or plants); and alleged United States support of Iran in its attempts to develop nuclear weapons." Well, that's just dishonest:

Fox News edits clip to make it seem like Obama can't lower taxes

[A] clip, aired by Fox & Friends Tuesday, has the president appearing to say that he could not give tax cuts to the richest Americans.

"It is an irresponsible thing for us to do. I can't give tax cuts to the top two percent of Americans..." Obama said before being cut off in mid-sentence by the morning show's editing.

But in the full context, it's clear that the president said that he couldn't give tax cuts and lower the deficit at the same time.

The Hill reported Obama's full quote as it aired on CNBC Monday.
When asked if he would modify his position on the Bush-era tax cuts to only increase taxes on those making at least $1 million, President Obama on Monday said the country simply could not afford it.

"I can't give tax cuts to the top two percent of Americans -- 86 percent of that going to Americans making $1 million or more -- and lower the deficit at the same time," he told CNBC. "I don't have the math."

"The national debt doubled during Bush's tenure. His was the worst eight-year economic record of any modern president. Worse still, by 2007 the U.S. reached levels of income inequality not since 1929. And now, it turns out, Americans' incomes dropped ominously after the tax cuts Bush bragged "meant people had more money in their pocket."

"Total income was $2.74 trillion less during the eight Bush years than if incomes had stayed at 2000 levels."

Americans' Incomes Sank After Bush Tax Cuts

Ha, and watch, Alan Grayson doesn't campaign lying down. He doesn't take any guff from these knuckleheads. "Taliban Dan" indeed.

GOP's Pledge Document is 98% White

"Nothing about the content of the Pledge to America is surprising--it's the same Bush-era economic agenda that got us into the mess we're in today: deregulate business, starve government services, starve the middle class and starve the working class so corporate special interests and the wealthy can feed on the spoils. But the presentation leaves me stunned.

It's 48 pages of fancy, historic-looking display type and photographs. Lots of photographs. In fact, it shows off photos of 384 white people by our count. One Asian American. A musician who might be Asian. One young man in military camo who may be Latino. And if you look very, very closely, five African Americans. A total of eight people of color.

What America are they pledging to? It doesn't look like the America I know.

The Census Bureau says people of color made up 34 percent of the population last year. In the eyes of those who made the Pledge to America, people of color are barely 2 percent.

I haven't seen such a false image of who America really is since 1950s-era television, back when Lucy and the Beaver seemed to live on a planet with no people of color whatsoever.

Maybe the people in those photos are the "real Americans" Sarah Palin has talked about. Real white."

"Obama has proven that he is anything but a radical. On domestic policy he is barely to the left
of center. On foreign policy, he is actually to the right of center. His two years in office has been
devoted to stubbornly refusing to try to move the country to the left. The problem for conservatives
is that they cannot attack Obama for his policy mistakes because most of his policy mistakes have
continued the bad policies of Bush or focused too much on reaching compromises. So they have to
go to the outer limits of crazy to find criticisms -- he's a Muslim, he's a terrorist sympathizer,
he's the next Adolf Hitler, and so forth."

what's sad is that a more progressive and left of center platform is what the man was elected on

Sadly, he's going to fail for not doing what he promised, then we get more years of pub policies wrecking the country
