Sarah Palin: God Wrote Notes On His Hand, Too

Sarah Palin came up with a new defense for her conspicuous use of hand notes over the weekend: God did it, too.

When the media first challenged her on the need to write her core beliefs on her hand to remember them, "I didn't really had a good answer, as so often -- is me," Palin quipped at an Ohio Right to Life fundraiser Friday. "But then somebody sent me the other day, Isaiah 49:16, and you need to go home and look it up. Before you look it up, I'll tell you what it says though. It says, hey, if it was good enough for God, scribbling on the palm of his hand, it's good enough for me, for us. He says, in that passage, 'I wrote your name on the palm of my hand to remember you,' and I'm like, 'Okay, I'm in good company.'"

"...the line Palin referred to, "Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands," features "writing" that is significantly more permanent."

DOUG
Where? That's his problem. As long as he leaves.

But he's lying. He wouldn't leave. Unless it's to the Dominican Republic, a haven for male prostitution and Rush's favorite vacation spot.

Of course. My point was that if he were to choose a new country to inhabit, he'd surely pick a first-world, prosperous country at least somewhat similar to the U.S., and the immediate options each already have a health care scenario like the one he'd be running from.

Ah, apparently he said he'd go to Costa Rica.

... For the record, Costa Rica has a socialized healthcare system.

Too funny:

Limbaugh Plans to Flee American Health Care Reform for More Extreme "Socialist" Health Care

"In a moment of great unintentional comedy, Rush Limbaugh said he would flee this Health Care reform if it passed by moving to Costa Rica. The irony is overwhelming given that Costa Rica has a universal, single payer Health Care system with large government ownership over Health Care providers like Hospitals." Link

"I'm begging you, your right to religion and freedom to exercise religion and read all of the passages of the Bible as you want to read them and as your church wants to preach them . . . are going to come under the ropes in the next year. If it lasts that long it will be the next year. I beg you, look for the words 'social justice' or 'economic justice' on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes."
Glenn Beck

On the U.S. bishops website they say: "At the core of the virtue of solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace. Our love for all our sisters and brothers demands that we promote peace in a world surrounded by violence and conflict."

Bigdog warns us on his blog today that Obama is likely to ban all fishing in the US. He says his actions are:

"...likely to involve ending fishing in “…the nation’s oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters.”

He adds: "This might sound unrealistic but who would have ever thought a US leader would ban fishing in this country?"

Barbara takes this a step further:

"This will be another way of control. No hunting and fishing, then no food to eat. What better way to weaken the people. Obama is out to destroy us in my opinion and I wish people’s eyes were opened to see this." Link

There you have it folks. Hide your fishing polls. Big mean Obama is coming to take them away. Even before he comes for the guns!

Poor conservatives, always living in fear in a complicated and strange world. I guess it's cheaper to have them vent on blogs than pay to house them in mental wards!

Update on the Fish Story, from Media Matters:

***
No rest for the weary: Fishing freak-out and Glenn Beck's musical epiphanies

What happens when an ESPN column makes a far-fetched claim that President Obama would ban fishing? On ESPNOutdoors.com, Robert Montgomery claimed that a federal strategy "could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters."

Conservatives took the bait, and it wasn't long before Limbaugh, Gateway Pundit, Fox Nation, RedState, and Michelle Malkin all forwarded the claim.

Was there any truth to it? Would the White House start sending out Secret Service agents to confiscate our fishing poles and shut down our local bait shop?

To the surprise of absolutely no one with a brain, the story was wrong. ESPN acknowledged its mistake.

But apparently nobody told Glenn Beck, who didn't back off the story. "No more fishing," Beck said, adding: "Forget about the frickin' fish. People are losing their rights. Who's more important: the fish or you?" Eventually, even Fox News debunked the claim.

Beck also exposed us to more of his pop music revelations. A few months ago, Beck explored the meaning of The Beatles' "Revolution" with the enthusiasm of a college freshman evangelizing Dark Side of the Moon. This week, he warned his viewers that Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" is "about a progressive utopia."

The next day on his radio show, Beck and his crew called Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." "anti-American."

actually, Born in the USA is a war protest song that is kind of Anti-American. Which is why it was so funny when Bob Dole used it for his campaign song in 1996 - apparently he never listened to the words...

Asked by Tom Brokaw on "Meet The Press" whether Republicans would be able to run against health care in the 2010 elections, Axelrod told Republicans to bring it on:

"If the Republican Party wants to go out and say to that child who now has insurance or say to that small business that will get tax credits this year if he signs the bill to help their employees get health care. If they want to say to them, "You know what? We're actually gonna take that away from you. We don't think that's such a good idea." I say, let's have that fight. Make my day. I'm ready to have that. And every member of Congress ought to be willing to have that debate as well." Link

Bigdog, frustrated and impotent in the face of rational arguments and sturdy logic, strikes out in nearly unintelligible frothing anger, at... moi.

And gets "Quote of the Day:"

"Darrel needs a tampon to stick in that face of his
because it doubles as the place where tampons go."

$6 billion, Afghan Police Boondoggle

"More than a year after Barack Obama took office, the president is still discovering how bad things are. At a March 12 briefing on Afghanistan with his senior advisers, he asked whether the police will be ready when America's scheduled drawdown begins in July 2011, according to a senior official who was in the room. "It's inconceivable, but in fact for eight years we weren't training the police," replied Caldwell, taking part in the meeting via video link from Afghanistan. "We just never trained them before. All we did was give them a uniform." The president looked stunned. "Eight years," he said. "And we didn't train police? It's mind-boggling." The room was silent." --Newsweek

"Abusive, derogatory and even racist behavior directed at House Democrats by Tea Party protesters on Saturday...

Preceding the president's speech to a gathering of House Democrats, thousands of protesters descended around the Capitol to protest the passage of health care reform. The gathering quickly turned into abusive heckling, as members of Congress passing through Longworth House office building were subjected to epithets and even mild physical abuse.

A staffer for Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told reporters that Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) had been spat on by a protestor. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a hero of the civil rights movement, was called a 'ni--er.' And Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) was called a "faggot," as protestors shouted at him with deliberately lisp-y screams."

David Frum, Former Assistant To President George W. Bush:

"No illusions please: This [Health care] bill will not be repealed. Even if Republicans scored a 1994 style landslide in November, how many votes could we muster to re-open the “doughnut hole” and charge seniors more for prescription drugs? How many votes to re-allow insurers to rescind policies when they discover a pre-existing condition? How many votes to banish 25 year olds from their parents’ insurance coverage? And even if the votes were there – would President Obama sign such a repeal?

We followed the most radical voices in the party and the movement, and they led us to abject and irreversible defeat."

"Watching the final floor speeches before Sunday's historic health care vote, including the Democrats' last-minute horse-trading over abortion, brought to mind Abraham Lincoln's words about the difficulty of rallying a fractious party of equality against a united party of oppression. Today's GOP, in its unbending commitment to upholding a broken status quo, differs from the Southern Party of Lincoln's day in name only. Yes, the final health care bill is deeply flawed. But the lives of millions of Americans will be improved because of what the Democrats have done. The Republicans, meanwhile, have been hoisted with their own deeply cynical petard. The party's toxic smokescreen of fear mongering ("This is going to cause Armageddon") and untruths (they want "to pull the plug on grandma") has been blown away, revealing a party that stands unified against progress." --Arianna

And now we have (talentless):

Teaparty Rappers.

"In addition to those basic principles, what I think is most important is we recognize that every four years we hear somebody’s got a health care plan. Every four years, somebody trots out a white paper — they post it on the web. But the question we have to challenge ourselves: Do we have the political will and the sense of urgency to actually get it done? I want to be held accountable for getting it done. I will judge my first term as president based on the fact on whether we have delivered the kind of health care that every American deserves and that our system can afford." Obama

“I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president.” --President Obama, on ABC, some time ago.

Looks like he may be on his way to being a really good two-term president.
