Unlimited Sarah Palin Roast

Post by Dardedar »

DAR
The idiotic choice of this profoundly unqualified person is surreal. There will be no end to the roast of this dingbat. Piles and piles of it and that is as it should be. Find a good starting place here with eighty (I counted) examples:

Mostly Palin Bashing

I'll post some of my favorites as time allows:

Palin lied about visiting Ireland as part of her foreign policy experience

She didn't visit Ireland, which is what the McCain-Palin campaign claimed to Politico's Ben Smith on Saturday. She had a short refueling stopover, which means at best her extensive Irish diplomacy amounted to buying a sweater and a beer mug in the Shannon airport.

Why does Sarah Palin's duty-free-diplomacy matter? Because John McCain, who is 72 and has had 4 bouts of cancer, just picked Sarah Palin to replace him as commander in chief should he die or be incapacitated in office. Sarah Palin, in an effort to bolster her non-existent national security expertise, claimed she had visited 3 countries: Germany; Kuwait; and Ireland. Now we find out that one of those three, 33% of her experience, was pretty much a lie. Did the McCain campaign know that Palin basically lied to the media and the American people? Or did this Irish blogger do the vetting that the McCain campaign couldn't be bothered to do?

Oh, the McCain-Palin campaign now alleges that Palin visited Canada too. Sure, if you count buying a Celine Dion CD.

Oh, and she has a crazy pastor too:

During the 2004 election season, he praised President Bush's performance during a debate with Sen. John Kerry...
"I'm not going tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for this particular person, I question your salvation. I'm sorry." Kalnins [Palin's preacher] added: "If every Christian will vote righteously, it would be a landslide every time."

Months after hinting at possible damnation for Kerry supporters, Kalnins bristled at the treatment President Bush was receiving over the federal government's handling of Hurricane Katrina. "I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."

Much of his support for the current administration has come in the realm of foreign affairs. Kalnins has preached that the 9/11 attacks and the invasion of Iraq were part of a "world war" over the Christian faith, one in which Jesus Christ had called upon believers to be willing to sacrifice their lives."

Heard this on NPR today:

Image

Ann and Nancy Wilson, the singing sibs who made up the classic rock band Heart, are livid their hit 1977 song “Barracuda” was played following Governor Sarah Palin and Senator John McCain’s addresses at the Republican National Convention this week.

“I feel completely fucked over,” Nancy told Entertainment Weekly Friday.

Universal Music Publishing and Sony BMG have sent a cease-and-desist notice ordering the McCain-Palin campaign to discontinue use of the song.

“Sarah Palin’s views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women,” Nancy and her sister Ann said in a e-mail to EW today.

“We ask that our song ‘Barracuda’ no longer be used to promote her image. The song ‘Barracuda’ was written in the late ’70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. (The ‘barracuda’ represented the business.) While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there’s irony in Republican strategists’ choice to make use of it there.”

Link

Also this:

"...campaign officials failed to ask either the group, Universal Music Publishing or Sony BMG whether the song was fair game to use. It wasn't.

"We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music," the Heart duo said in a statement. "We hope our wishes will be honored."

The Wilsons added that permission to use the song was never requested, nor would it have been granted.

John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne and Boston have all previously made noise about the GOP's unauthorized use of their songs during this year's campaign."

Republicans take Heart, Heart takes it back

Bonus:
"Gotta love these “Rule of Law” Republicans. And not the first time for McCain either. He has been sued by Jackson Browne for using his song, served with a Cease and Desist for using a Frankie Valli song, used footage of the Wayne and Garth characters from Wayne’s World without permission, and used the Theme from Rocky without permission."

Gov. Palin ROCKS!

Post by John Galt »

Gov. Sarah Palin- is far more qualified than Obama. The GOP loves and respects women- unlike Obama who discarded Hillary like a piece of trash. Women are very upset about the terrible treatment Hillary received.

Here is a nice video, if you would like to meet the hottest Governor from the coldest state.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddRoiVWfLyU

Gov. Palin has shown the world that her executive experience far exceeds the experience of a silly "Community Organizer" (whatever the hell that is) like Obama.

The Republican Convention was the most viewed in history. Obama will lose and he knows it. Get used to it.

Galt,

Interesting that you mention Obama's community organizing that he did right out of college. Here's a good clip about it: Link

Damn, that one nailed it. I couldn't imagine a better response. You just have to shake your head.

Image

And boy did Stewart and Colbert have a field day with Giuliani pretending like he didn't know what a "community organizer" was. Ridiculous.

Image

Doesn't he look like he would be good at organizing a cross dressing parade or a drag queen show?

The idea that Palin is in any way qualified is laughable and she is being ridiculed far and wide. And it's only just begun. They better hide her in a bunker some where. I am still 50/50 that they are going to have to yank her in a "Harriet Miers" fashion. But it's getting late and boy would it piss of the fundies.

Another example:

Sarah Palin poses as an opponent of congressionally mandated earmarks, but when the slop was in the bucket, she was one of the biggest pigs. No wait, she was THE BIGGEST PIG:

The Seattle Times reported yesterday that she submitted 31 earmark requests totaling $197 million in the current (FY2009) budget cycle. According to that paper, it was “more, per person, than any other state.”

The Washington Post reports that in 2000, Palin took an extraordinary step as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, a town that had fewer than 5,500 residents—she hired a Washington lobbyist to seek congressional earmarks. According to the Post, she won a total of $6.1 million in earmarks for the city of Wasilla in 2002.

A review of the Taxpayers for Common Sense database from which the Post derived that number indicates that 2002 was actually a subpar year for Palin. Over the course of her four years she sought earmarks as city mayor and won an average of $6.7 million a year.

LINK

"When Palin left office in 2002, Wasilla had “racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt,” or roughly $3,000 of debt per resident. …"

Is there anyone still so dense they think the republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility? Really?

What a joke. What a lying sack of crap. This woman is an utter farce.

Ha ha ha. Let's see, mayor of a town the size of Lowell, and then Governor of a state, for 1.8 years, with a little more population than North West Arkansas!

LOL!

NWA population:

"The Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is a four-county area including three Arkansas counties and one Missouri county. The MSA (most often referred to as Northwest Arkansas) is anchored by the Arkansas cities of Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville... The US Census estimated the population of the MSA to be... 438,000 in 2007." Link

"In 2006 Alaska had an estimated population of 670,053"

Yes, and they are also upset that the GOP trashed her for YEARS, hounded her and her husband in a 10-million dollar witch hunt while Bill was president, and at the end of the day, the GOP had NOTHING to show for it. It was just millions of taxpayer dollars wasted because of Republican sour grapes.

My father was a famous community organizer. They help their country by doing tons of work at low wages and helping their community get empowered. Of course Republicans would laugh at that. The GOP is the party of the rich, white men. They laugh at those who want to make their country a better place. Republicans put $$ first and country second. Despite McCain pretending otherwise, just look at Bush's legacy. Bush would rather start a needless war and make Halliburton and other pals rich than avoid a war and save the lives of the troops. That's how Bush "supports the troops."

The RNC convention was the most watched in history. True. Everyone, deep down, goes to the circus to see the trapeze artist fall. The RNC did not disappoint.

But the main speeches, McCain's and Obama's, were tied for ratings.

John Galt wrote:Obama will lose and he knows it. Get used to it.

As Bill Maher pointed out yesterday, the Republican strategy, since they have nothing but failure and disaster to show for their governing the last 8 years, is to repeat falsehoods and hope that people believe them. McCain is running on the platform of hating own party. Palin is running on tits and lies.

They are behind already and their convention boost was not as high as Obama's. They are going to lose.

Hey, Galt, why did Palin LIE and say that she sold that plane on Ebay? Is she so stupid she things no one will be able to find out?

I'm still confused about the republican's problem with Obama's community work. Aren't they the party that always say they want to have problems solved at the local (i.e. community) level instead of with "big" government?

They also stand up for local, community values. Talk about the grass roots of America! Yeah, lets make fun of them. They stand up to big corporations and big government when they want to roll in and roll over communities. Guiliani's snide dig is going to bite him in the butt. It already is. McCain had criticized earmarks from Palin

Three times in recent years, the Arizona senator's lists of 'objectionable' pork spending have included earmarks requested by his new running mate.

WASILLA, ALASKA - For much of his long career in Washington, John McCain has been throwing darts at the special spending system known as earmarking, through which powerful members of Congress can deliver federal cash for pet projects back home with little or no public scrutiny. He's even gone so far as to publish "pork lists" detailing these financial favors.

Three times in recent years, McCain's catalogs of "objectionable" spending have included earmarks for this small Alaska town, requested by its mayor at the time -- Sarah Palin.

Now, McCain, the likely Republican presidential nominee, has chosen Palin as his running mate, touting her as a reformer just like him."

Wow. Palin's earmark howlers are so blatant and so false even Fox News commentator Chris Wallace can see through them! Amazing. Watch the short clip here.

Reading the wiki page for Bridge to Nowhere is informative. Specifically the Gravina Island Bridge, which is the main and most expensive one in question. It clearly exposes Palin for the liar she is:

"In September [20th], 2006, Sarah Palin showed up in Ketchikan on her gubernatorial campaign and said the bridge was essential for the town's prosperity."

They've got the quotes and the references frying her to a crisp on this topic. Beautiful.

"So Sambo beat the bitch!"

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

"It was kind of disgusting," Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the "lower 48" about life near the North Pole.

Then, almost with a sigh, she added, "But that’s just Alaska."

............Meet Sarah Palin's Joke Writer: Pastor Hagee

As the nation already agreed while you were in the bathroom, the highlight of Sarah Palin's acceptance speech last Wednesday was her no-holds-barred, irreverent wisecrack on the topic of national security and the economy in general...

"You know, they say, the difference between a Hockey Mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."

Whether you watched the speech from your foreclosed home or from a bunker in Iraq, you know you loved that joke. But, you're thinking, with all the time Palin spends mothering five children and applying for $197 million in federal earmarks, surely she can't have time to write her own jokes!

Right you are. So enter Pastor John Hagee...

Sarah Palin's now famous "lipstick" joke from her acceptance speech Wednesday night is generating lots of buzz in Democratic circles and the liberal blogosphere. Not because of how funny it was, but because of its similarity to another (in)famous one-liner delivered by controversial evangelical pastor John Hagee.

Hagee's joke, found in his book What Every Man Wants in a Woman, goes like this...

"Do you know the difference between a woman with PMS and a snarling Doberman pinscher? The answer is lipstick."

What's the difference between Palin and Muslim fundamentalists? Lipstick

A theocrat is a theocrat, whether Muslim or Christian.

Salon

Sept. 9, 2008 | John McCain announced that he was running for president to confront the "transcendent challenge" of the 21st century, "radical Islamic extremism," contrasting it with "stability, tolerance and democracy." But the values of his handpicked running mate, Sarah Palin, more resemble those of Muslim fundamentalists than they do those of the Founding Fathers. On censorship, the teaching of creationism in schools, reproductive rights, attributing government policy to God's will and climate change, Palin agrees with Hamas and Saudi Arabia rather than supporting tolerance and democratic precepts. What is the difference between Palin and a Muslim fundamentalist? Lipstick.

McCain pledged to work for peace based on "the transformative ideals on which we were founded." Tolerance and democracy require freedom of speech and the press, but while mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin inquired of the local librarian how to go about banning books that some of her constituents thought contained inappropriate language. She tried to fire the librarian for defying her. Book banning is common to fundamentalisms around the world, and the mind-set Palin displayed did not differ from that of the Hamas minister of education in the Palestinian government who banned a book of Palestinian folk tales for its sexually explicit language. In contrast, Thomas Jefferson wrote, "Our liberty cannot be guarded but by the freedom of the press, nor that be limited without danger of losing it."

.........A Gidget for God's Truth

Tuesday 09 September 2008

by: Steve Weissman, t r u t h o u t| Perspective

"The Constitution established the United States of America as a Christian nation," declared John McCain back in September 2007. With his vice-presidential pick of Governor Sarah Palin, he has found a winsome soul mate who is even more of a Christian nationalist, eager to use government to impose her religious views on the rest of us. ...

McCain hears God less extremely, but the Republican platform echoes Palin, and if she ever became president, she would feel completely justified in making her religious belief a litmus test for appointees to the Supreme Court.

Her attitude toward gays and lesbians is similar, though observers in both the gay press and corporate media have misrepresented the firmness of her convictions. The confusion stems from a legal suit that some same-sex couples filed in 1999, arguing that Alaska had no right to deny domestic partners of state employees the same health and pension benefits that the state gave to married spouses. The case made its way to Alaska's Supreme Court, which ruled in 2005 that the state could not discriminate against the domestic partners.

In the political firestorm that followed, the Alaska legislature passed a bill forbidding state officials to pay the benefits. Alaska's attorney general then declared the bill unconstitutional, and the newly inaugurated Governor Palin felt legally obliged to veto it. But, she loudly proclaimed her opposition to spousal benefits for domestic partners and signed a separate bill calling for a state referendum, which she said would lay the groundwork for overturning the state Supreme Court ruling.
