Navigating this Discussion Board

Post by Savonarola »

As some users may not be familiar with this style of php discussion board, below is a short blurb to help you navigate the forums with maximum efficiency and minimal effort.

Any orange icon (Image, Image, Image, Image, Image, Image, Image) indicates that a new post has been made in that thread or forum since your last visit. This "new" indication may not be entirely accurate unless you are a registered user with cookies enabled on your web browser.

Once you are looking at the list of threads (e.g. in a forum), the small orange "folded piece of paper" icon (Image)to the left of each thread title is a link to the first post within that thread that you have not read. A similar icon (Image) beside each individual post's title shows that you have not read it before.
Using these links makes browsing to new posts much easier than scrolling through long threads.

The same icon under "Last Post" on the right (which may or may not appear orange depending on whether you have seen the post already) is a link to the last post in a thread.

On the forum index page, there is a link above the "Last Post" column that says, "View posts since last visit" (as well as a couple other links that I personally tend to find less useful). This link is very similar to nwapolitics's "Check the Newest Comments" link, although it lists only those comments which you haven't seen previously. Also, whereas nwapolitics will only list so many new comments, this will list all threads that have been active since your last visit (with the convenient orange links for easier navigation).

If you have any questions, please reply in this thread for assistance.
