Login or Auto-login trouble

Post by Savonarola »

There seems to be an issue with users having problems with logging in or having their login automatically performed. Please see the portion of the FAQ page that addresses many login questions.

Please consider these issues:
  1. The FFForums' server database occasionally has problems and sometimes resets. This may be the cause of some of the login issues.
  2. You will not be able to log in if your browser has been set not to accept cookies.
  3. You will not be able to be automatically logged in if you have set your browser not to accept permanent cookies.
  4. You will only be automatically logged in if you check the "Log me on automatically each visit" tick box before you press the Submit button while logging in.
  5. Although deleting temporary internet files and cookies periodically is good computer maintenance, deleting cookies will of course delete the cookie that logs you in automatically.
  6. Cookies have a 7-day expiration; you will not be automatically logged in if you have not visited FFForums in seven or more days.
  7. I am uncertain whether the auto-login keys work for users with dynamic IP addresses.
