February 2015 Freethinker Meeting (cancelled)
Posted: Thu Feb 26, 2015 12:50 am
Fayetteville Freethinkers,
It's time for our February meeting, the second one of the year!
At this meeting we will watch the documentary "The Unbelievers." It's an hour and 15 minutes and follows...
"Renowned scientists Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss cross the globe as they speak publicly about the importance of science and reason in the modern world."
We've watched some of it and can report that it is *really* good. Which is why we're going to show it.
Linda Farrell will give a presentation about how our society deals with mental illness issues.
Turns out, there is room for improvement.
Doug Krueger will give us a logical fallacy to ponder and will also discuss a book he found at a thrift store. It's a children's book written as a series of letters from God to various kids in difficult situations. Prepare to get upset!
As promised, here are links to some of the popular videos we've played recently at meetings:
Nine Reasons Why Religion is so Powerful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4rOAMEg2Mo
