HERE WE GO

Post by Betsy »

IN THE NEWS TODAY:

President Bush refused on Tuesday to rule out nuclear strikes against Iran if diplomacy fails to curb the Islamic Republic's atomic ambitions.

Iran, which says its nuclear program is purely peaceful, told world powers it would pursue atomic technology, whatever they decide at a meeting in Moscow today. Bush avoided ruling out nuclear retaliation if diplomatic efforts fail.

Asked if options included planning for a nuclear strike, Bush replied: "All options are on the table. We want to solve this issue diplomatically and we're working hard to do so."

Speculation about a U.S. attack has mounted since a report in New Yorker magazine said this month that Washington was mulling the option of using tactical nuclear weapons to knock out Iran's subterranean nuclear sites.

Preemptive strikes are justified if we perceive the other side as a threat, according to Bushco.

Bush then refuses to be non-threatening.

Now, put two and two together...

How do dead people buy gasoline?

Since Bush carefully chooses nations that do not have the capability to attack the United States for his chest thumping, the dead will mostly be in the Middle East . (Check the Iraqi totals - still under 5K dead even including "non-combat related" - combat related are just under 2,500 - Americans and anywhere from a low of 30K to a high of 100+K Iraqi dead. Oh, excuse me, that's not dead, that's "collateral damage".) Most of those folks are too poor to have cars anyway, so the point about dead people buying gasoline is moot.

On the other hand, presupposing we can actually get petroleum from the radioactive glass slag that would be a thoroughly nuked Iran, would Americans even notice they were buying radioactive gasoline?

We may like to think that we're safe, but that doesn't mean that we are. Bush is now thumping his chest in Iran's direction, and apparently they'll have all the materials they'll need for a dirty bomb (or several), or maybe even a bona fide nuclear weapon.

No, this isn't alarmism; it's realism. Maybe if we hadn't gone around pissing off Arabs, we wouldn't have too much to worry about...

More evidence that this country has too high of a ratio of insane people.

Monica joined "Scarborough Country," last night and left no doubt in the the minds of the viewers that Iran probably already has nukes and will use them against us. Nobody on the panel corrected her ill-informed, warmongering statements. Is this supposed to be political debate or a War propaganda segment?

Transcript:
Joe: ...Monica, is there any possibility that the Iranian leaders that are in charge right now would ever be so irrational as to launch a nuclear attack on cities like Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C., if they got this nuclear device?

Monica: Unequivocally, yes, Joe. And in fact, the hypothetical scenario that you just laid out, that hypothetic ground zero is just a few blocks from where I am sitting here tonight. So, it is an incredibly frightening scenario and absolutely within the realm of possibility given the nature of the regime we‘re talking about. This Tehran regime covers the terrorist Trifecta. They do have weapons of mass destruction, possibly even nuclear at this point. They export terror and they do support al Qaeda.---read the transcript

The segment featured graphics showing what a nuclear blast would do to New York. That's a great way to influence the American people if the U.S. bombs Iran. What will happen when all the young Iranian kids that are said to love America are hit with bombs? Will they still want regime change in Iran?

Definitely crooks and liars - How much of NBC does Rev Moon own? Iran doesn't have a bomb. Nearest estimate is 5 years before Iran has the capability of making a bomb (home-made - they could make a "dirty bomb" anytime they wanted to by importing spent-radiation schrapnel from Iraq). Iran has no delivery system even if it had a bomb (neither did Iraq). Of course, our supposedly Homeland Security hasn't yet mandated making access into the pilots' cabin from the passenger cabin impossible (bolts, welding the door shut, whatever), then they can try another "9/11" with our passenger planes - but surely Cheney won't manage to get rid of the air national guard on d-day, h-hour again, so they'd be shot down before they hit their target - and how would they get all our schrapnel on the plane in the first place?
