Dar's Handy Data for roasting Nazis and Confederates

Postby Dardedar » Sat Aug 19, 2017 11:18 am

*confederate *veterans
As Confederate history researcher, author and blogger Andy Hall of Texas noted recently in a discussion at another blog when someone claimed that "Congress passed a law making any and all confederate soldier [sic] a US veteran" (emphasis Hall's):

If you're referring to the 1958 legislation, all it did was make Confederate veterans eligible for the same VA benefits as Union soldiers were. It did not make them U.S. veterans, make any other official change in their status, or extend any particular protections to graves or monuments.

It's really amusing how the same heritage folks who, generally speaking, have nothing but disdain and mockery for the federal government, cling desperately to this particular bit of legislation as an endorsement of their ancestors' integrity. Is your faith in them and their cause genuinely so weak that you have to have the official imprimatur of the U.S. government to justify their cause? Apparently so."

A bunch of NAZIS got together and started attacking and threatening people and one of them USED HIS CAR AS A WEAPON AND DROVE INTO A CROWD OF PEOPLE AND KILLED A WOMAN AND INJURED OTHERS.
And the president is making excuses for this?

Punching Nazis in the face.

A common sentiment is "we just need all the old racists to die off for things to get better."
The man who deliberately drove into a group of counter-protesters and murdered one person was 20 years old. Let this be a sobering reminder that white supremacy will never simply "die off". We have to excise it.

I like how Jim Wright puts this:
"The United States is 241 years old
For 237 out of those 241 years, the flag of the United States of America has flown over The South.
For less than 4 years, the Beauregard's Flag (AKA the Virginia Battle Flag, The Confederate Flag, the Stars and Bars) flew over a handful of southern armies of the defunct Confederacy.
That means for more than 99% of the history of the United States of America, the Stars and Stripes has flown over The South.
The AMERICAN flag embodies more than 99% of The South's history.
More than 99%.
The Confederate Flag represents less than 1% of that history, MUCH less when you realize that it never flew over the Confederate States or Southern white citizens themselves. And it most certainly did not represent People of Color in the South. Ever. Meaning that the Confederate Flag represents a vanishing small fraction of Southern history for only a fraction of Southerners.
So, when I'm told the Confederate flag represents "heritage" I am forced to ask WHAT heritage exactly?
Precisely what heritage does the Confederate Flag represent to AMERICANS that the American flag does not?
Because the vast, vast majority of The South's heritage, bad, terrible, mundane, good, and great, occurred under the banner of the United States of America.
And it seems to me watching the Confederate Battle Flag fly alongside the Nazi Swastika that the "heritage" embraced by those who stood under that GD rag yesterday in Charlottesville, Virginia, was not pride, nor honor, nor duty, nor sacrifice, nor fidelity, nor courage, nor defense of home, nor any of those moments in history that embody the true greatness of that shinning city on the hill, but rather all the very worst aspects of humanity, hate, fear, intolerance, oppression, violence, bigotry, treason, genocide, murder, and terror.
So you tell me, what AMERICAN ideals, what history, what HERITAGE, does the Confederate Flag represent that the American Flag does not?"
https://www.facebook.com/Stonekettle/po ... 4564141609

In Germany, Nazis can't fly the swastika, so they fly the confederate flag instead.

All southern leaders were traitors
to the United States of America
They took up arms against the United States of America
They fought on for years against the United States of America
They killed hundreds of thousands of the citizens
of the United States of America
Their sole purpose was to destroy the United States of America
and make them
the separated States of America
They deserve no honor, attention or remembrance

"A common sentiment I hear is "we just need all the old racists to die off for things to get better."

My American grandfather was 100% disabled while shooting Nazis and my wife's Canadian grandfather took a Nazis round through the gut and could never lift his arm after that So I'm kinda leaning toward not sitting around while these modern day Nazis, Confederates and horrible racists go around stamping their feet and driving cars through crowds.
Maybe we ought to go back to punching Nazis in the face. And sooner rather than later. Now there's an American tradition eh?

"White supremacists were more than pleased with his reaction. “Trump’s comments were good,” read a post on the prominent white nationalist site Daily Stormer as they live-blogged yesterday’s events.
“He refused to answer a question about White Nationalists supporting him,” the post continued. “No condemnation at all. When asked to condemn, he just walked out of the room. Really, really good. God bless him.”

Trump's America
https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/ ... e=5A368228

"Both sides" did not come armed with long guns.
"Both sides" did not come armed with sticks.
"Both sides" did not come in para-military gear.
"Both sides" did not come with Nazi flags.
"Both sides" did not come with Confederate flags.
"Both sides" were not giving the Nazi salute,
"Both sides" did not drive a car into a crowd of people with the intent of killing and maiming.
It was only one side that did that.
That side was the one chanting "Make America Great Again", "Take America Back", "Blood and Soil" and "Die Faggots."
The Nazi KKK side is emboldened when Trump ignorantly shills for Nazis and talks about "both sides" being responsible.

Both sides bad. Trump in 1944:

When one side is Nazis and the other side is people opposed to Nazis, you don't say "both sides are to blame. No, not the same.
"One side is racist, bigoted, Nazi. The other opposes racism and bigotry. Morally different universes." --Mitt Romney

Krauthammer: “What Trump did today was a moral disgrace.”
“What Trump is missing here is the uniqueness of white supremacy, KKK and Nazism,” Krauthammer explained. “This was instigated, instituted, the ride began over a Nazi riot. A Nazi rally. And the only killing here occurred by one of the pro-Nazi, pro-KKK people.”
http://www.rawstory.com/2017/08/what-he ... e-presser/

What took place was not a rally. Who wears paramilitary gear and carries automatic weapons to a rally? Who takes shields and helmets and pepper spray and bats and sticks to a rally? The car didn’t “crash”— it was driven at full speed into a crowd of counter-protesters.
What happened in Charlottesville was White nationalist extremists inciting a riot.

The bunch that Trump is making excuses for:
"On this day in 1915, Leo Frank, a Jewish American, was lynched in Georgia by the KKK. Afterward, Klansmen burned a cross on Stone Mountain. A permit request by the KKK to repeat the burning today was denied."

Robert E. Lee opposed Confederate monuments
""As regards the erection of such a monument as is contemplated,” Lee wrote of an 1866 proposal, “my conviction is, that however grateful it would be to the feelings of the South, the attempt in the present condition of the Country, would have the effect of retarding, instead of accelerating its accomplishment; [and] of continuing, if not adding to, the difficulties under which the Southern people labour.”" --Robert E. Lee
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/rob ... monuments/

Robert E. Lee's family opposes confederate monuments:
“I think that is absolutely an option, to move it to a museum and put it in the proper historical context,” Lee said. “Times were very different then. We look at the institution of slavery, and it’s absolutely horrendous. Back then, times were just extremely different. We understand that it’s complicated in 2017, when you look back at that period of time… If you want to put statues of General Lee or other Confederate people in museums, that makes good sense.”

Descendants of Stonewall Jackson Pen Emotional Letter, Ask for ‘Removal of all Confederate Statues’
Scions Of Infamous Confederate General Call The Statues ‘Overt Symbols Of Racism And White Supremacy’
" We are native Richmonders and also the great, great grandsons of Stonewall Jackson. As two of the closest living relatives to Stonewall, we are writing today to ask for the removal of his statue, as well as the removal of all Confederate statues from Monument Avenue. They are overt symbols of racism and white supremacy, and the time is long overdue for them to depart from public display.
While we are not ashamed of our great great grandfather, we are ashamed to benefit from white supremacy while our black family and friends suffer. We are ashamed of the monument."
http://reverbpress.com/news/us/stonewal ... ttesville/

The Real Story Behind All Those Confederate Statues
"Yes, these monuments were put up to honor Confederate leaders. But the timing of the monument building makes it pretty clear what the real motivation was: to physically symbolize white terror against blacks. They were mostly built during times when Southern whites were engaged in vicious campaigns of subjugation against blacks, and during those campaigns the message sent by a statue of Robert E. Lee in front of a courthouse was loud and clear.
No one should think that these statues were meant to be somber postbellum reminders of a brutal war. They were built much later, and most of them were explicitly created to accompany organized and violent efforts to subdue blacks and maintain white supremacy in the South....There’s a reason blacks consider these statues to be symbols of bigotry and terror. It’s because they are."
http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2 ... e-statues/

"Robert E Lee opposed the construction of confederate monuments. He thought of them as divisive to America. Most of the confederate monuments in America were erected in the 1950s-60s as monuments to Jim Crow Laws, segregation in the south and the KKK. Confederate monuments are monuments to traitors and those who fought to keep human beings in the bondage of slavery. Every time a black person sees a confederate statue they think of the tens of thousands of black Americans who were lynched in the south. Tearing down monuments to racism and lynchings in America should have happened a long time ago. The flag you see below was made famous by the KKK; it was never a flag of the confederacy." --Charles C.

"With our monuments lying about secession, our textbooks obfuscating what the Confederacy was about and our Army honoring Southern generals, no wonder so many Americans supported the Confederacy until recently. We can see the impact of Confederate symbols and thinking on Dylann Roof, accused of killing nine in a Charleston, S.C., church, but other examples abound. In his mugshot, Timothy McVeigh, who bombed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995, wore a neo-Confederate T-shirt showing Abraham Lincoln and the words “Sic semper tyrannis.” When white students in Appleton, Wis. — a recovering “sundown town” that for decades had been all white on purpose — had issues with Mexican American students in 1999, they responded by wearing and waving Confederate flags, which they already had at home, at the ready.
Across the country, removing slavery from its central role in prompting the Civil War marginalizes African Americans and makes us all stupid. De-Confederatizing the United States won’t end white supremacy, but it will be a momentous step in that direction."

"The paradox of tolerance, first described by Karl Popper in 1945, is a decision theory paradox. The paradox states that if a society is tolerant without limit, their ability to be tolerant will eventually be seized or destroyed by the intolerant. Popper came to the seemingly paradoxical conclusion that in order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance."

*jim wright [rant]
I keep trying to get to a point in this insanity where I can write a piece, but it's all going sideways
So, instead, some observations:

- Fuck racist terrorists. This isn't free speech. You don't bring guns, clubs, torches, and shields to peaceful demonstration. This is terrorism. These people are terrorists. A car just plowed into a crowd of anti-racist protesters. I've watched the video. It was deliberate. It was attempted murder. This is terrorism and should be called such. So far as a I know, the terrorists have not been caught yet. Fuck those cowards.

- Fuck the Confederacy. Every symbol of the Confederacy, every monument, every flag, every statue, should be pulled down, uprooted, smashed into rubble, and burned. Fuck Robert E. Lee, he was a traitor, pull down his statue, melt it down, recast it into urinals. Piss on the Confederacy.

- Fuck Nazis. I don't want to hear any social justice warrior bullshit about not confronting these racist shitbags with violence if necessary. They get punched in the head, they take a lead pipe over the skull, well it just plain sucks to be a Nazi. I'm not going to sugar coat that for you. Nazis are Nazis, they deserve nothing but a boot in their yellow teeth and punch in the throat. They're getting off easy. Our grandfathers hunted Nazis down and EXTERMINATED them and it's to our everlasting shame that we let this cancer regrow in our midst. Fuck Nazis.

- Fuck Trump. Trump owns this. Republicans own this. This isn't the Alt-Right, this IS the right. These sons of bitches are literally shouting "Sieg Trump" in the streets of Charlottesville right now. Fuck Trump.
These people are the vile residue, the foul distillation, of every failed hateful rotten-tooth inbred ideology in history. Don't let them hide. Don't make excuses for them. Get them out in the open. Make them own it. They have jobs -- some of them. They have parents and kids and neighbors. They have churches. The Constitution gives them a right to their hate, but not a right to be free of the consequences. Publish their pictures. Publish their license plates. Get them out in the open. Pull their hoods off. They're standing out there shouting hate, flying the flag of treason, their arms upraised in the Hitler salute. Make them own it. Make them infamous. Don't let them hide.

Why I Changed My Mind About Confederate Monuments
Empty pedestals can offer the same lessons about racism and war that the statues do.
"Confederate monuments were erected and dedicated by white southerners as an expression of their collective values—chief among them a commitment to white supremacy that secessionists were willing to die for. Many descendants of those southerners have decided, as the freedmen and their descendants already had, that the Lost Cause does not represent them—not as members of their respective communities, and not as Americans."
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/ar ... ts/537396/?

How Charlottesville Looks From Berlin
"One reason for not preserving Hitler's bunker was that it was feared that the site might become a place of pilgrimage for neo-Nazis; a place of violence and shameless celebration of a history that should be shameful. On Saturday, in a park in Charlottesville, a statue of General Lee became just that. The fact that marchers said their goal was to "take back America" seems especially ironic, since they were celebrating one of the very people whose explicit aim was to dismantle the nation.
"Often the argument for preserving Confederate statues and allowing Confederate flags is that we should not forget our history. In Germany, Nazi buildings are extremely hard to come by — nearly all have been destroyed. Yet Germany certainly has not forgotten anything: There's just a recognition that remembering and memorializing are two different things."
